Anti-Trump 'No Kings' Protests Flood U.S. Streets

(MENAFN) Massive crowds flooded streets across the United States on Saturday in the third installment of the nationwide "No Kings" protest movement, with demonstrations spanning all 50 states and extending to 16 countries in what organizers are calling one of the most expansive coordinated acts of civil dissent in modern American history.

More than 3,000 individual events were organized by a broad coalition that included anti-authoritarian groups Indivisible and 50501, alongside labor unions and numerous grassroots organizations. The scale of mobilization dwarfs many recent protest movements, with the previous No Kings demonstration in October drawing an estimated 7 million participants nationwide, according to local news outlets.

The protests arrive at a moment of acute political vulnerability for President Donald Trump, whose approval ratings have plunged to record lows — with dissatisfaction reportedly seeping into segments of his own MAGA base. Critics, as documented by the Washington Post, have pointed to a growing list of grievances: a new military confrontation with Iran that has claimed the lives of 13 U.S. service members, surging gas and grocery prices, economically punishing tariffs on everyday consumer goods, and mounting airport delays blamed on government dysfunction.

The designated flagship event unfolded outside the Minnesota State Capitol, where thousands assembled in what Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin described, as reported by the Post, as the "largest protest in Minnesota history."

In Washington, D.C., a smaller but pointed demonstration took shape at the Lincoln Memorial, where roughly a dozen Palestinian mothers gathered, unfurling a 10-foot Palestinian flag in a visible act of solidarity, media reported.

Among them was Hazami Barmada, 42, who told media: "Most Americans don't know that our tax dollars are being used to subsidize violence." She added: "This is happening while many Americans can't afford housing, milk, school or healthcare. Prices continue to go up as we are fighting Israel's wars."

Not all voices on the streets aligned with the No Kings coalition. Counter-demonstrators materialized at several rally sites, most notably in West Palm Beach, Florida, where approximately 50 pro-Trump demonstrators — many sporting "Proud Boys" hats and wielding megaphones — directly confronted No Kings participants, according to media.

In response to such tensions, the No Kings coalition has drawn firm boundaries around the character of its events, formally designating them as nonviolent, prohibiting all weapons, and equipping event leaders with de-escalation training. The precautions follow a tragic incident at the inaugural No Kings Day in June, when a protester in Salt Lake City was fatally shot and another wounded by a 50501 volunteer after a firearm was observed at the scene — despite the weapon being legally carried under Utah law.
